Hey everyone! Here is our new game titled 'Marve-Arcade Cube Hopper'. Its definitely homage to the classic qbert game. It was in production for a very long time (longer than I would have liked). I honestly created this game more for the nostalgia and wanted to keep the feel of Qbert but with a slight modern twist. No publishers wanted to touch it, but at any rate I'm incredibly proud of this one and would love to share it with our buildbox community and friends. Hope you guys like it!
@heathclose Yes, apparently my timing was off when putting this game out. Due to down the mountain, mountain goat mountain, tote the goat and various titles which were already featured by apple. They said I was too late in the game on this one and that it would be nearly impossible to get a featured spot by apple.
I'm digging me some FLUGG! Hard to believe no publishers bit on it. Guess your character has to be a ball.....
Wow. It looks great. Would love to see this published on Indie Plexus, but since this project isn't alive at the moment I can't really offer you anything. Did you already publish for yourself?
@Christoph Thanks man I appreciate it. Yes, the game is currently live on google play store as well as the App Store.
Excellent stuff. 10/10. 2 thumbs up. 5* Amazed that you couldn't find a publisher! Any good reason given?
@AndyG Thanks man I appreciate the support. Yea, pretty much timing. Another big mistake I failed to mention was that I pushed the game out before asking a publisher if they were interested. I really wanted to see if I can put my name out there without a publisher. At the end I got no publisher or an apple feature lol. Basically I wanted my company on the map (with hopes of an apple feature). Publishers also mentioned that timing was off as Ketchapp has similar games, Qbert was already out and apple featured a handful that had very similar gameplay styles. Thats pretty much what I got as responses.
No luck mate. But all part of the learning curve and thanks for posting. Good info to know. Hopefully things will go viral for you and you get success
Nice work @Project K Studios, really cool style. Where's the link to play it? Congrats on all your hard work, looks like a winner to me
Thanks @Phill Mason I appreciate that. Sure thing, the links are below. iOS - Marve - Arcade Cube Hopper by Project-K Studios, Inc. https://appsto.re/us/NHF-_.i Android- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.game.marve&hl=en
great work i really liked the trailer how did you achieve that kind of gameplay and what version of BB did you use it's a big game as the file was big it also the character has health was it BB 2 AS it like it's not a game created with BB am i wrong
@wesam_badr No you are not wrong. I actually started with bb1. I tried so hard to find a way to get this type of gameplay working. As far as the assets go, I got them working on bb1 easily. Clouds, moving water falls etc. So basically all the graphics were no problem. Unfortunately, at the time bb2 wasn't even a thing yet. So we were forced to move to unity and finish the game there. Which sucks because as we were half way done bb2 released and you can actually produce similar results. In fact I think Tastypill is in the process of releasing a similar game made entirely with bb2. Thanks for the support. Hope you enjoy the game!
Hey @Project K Studios , what type of gameplay did you use first to make it work? like zigzag gameplay. I am trying to make a game also with this type of gameplay but I couldn't make the character jump/hop from one platform to another. any ideas? thanks
