Starting to design a game I'd like to share the art style with you guys as we go along for feedback, its an endless runner style game, moving from left to right, using the moto style game but with a difference. I am using a small boat, or fishing dingy if you like. It will encompass a disney style feel to the art with ramps, crocs to avoid etc. Check out some concepts we are drafting and please - feedback is very welcome. Enjoy, Cal
@calmackay79 Looks Great! Reminds me of the Genie in Aladdin from Disney...boy Robin Williams was great.
Love this style. I see the Disney influence, but I also think it has a Chuck Jones vibe to it, especially with the female character. Good luck with your game. I can wait to see it!
We are pretty much set on our characters now (1 main, unlockable others) in these images we are working out a few sequences and then we should have it ready for detailing. As always - comments are welcome.
Thanks - but i'm just the game developer, my artist deserves the credit. hardest thing I've had to do is find a quality artist. Its taken me 5 years and many trials to get someone so talented and trustworthy.
I wouldn't mind knowing the lessons you learned along the way... where did you finally find your artist?
hi @heathclose most of my lessons were learnt the hard way. I started off using feelancer sites like elance and freelancer, but found the artists and programmers there would try cheat me or were sub par. I only use those sites for small jobs now(eg SDK update or something quick), I source most of my work through relative forums these days (aka art communities for artists) and once I find someone talented I usually pay higher than usual to retain services, including % sharing of profits so they also have vested interest in projects. Message me directly if you have any questions and i'll try to help as much as possible, I try to keep some things quiet to avoid all my hard work becoming mainstream.
Long time since an update, so heres some images of how its looking, we have toned it down slightly as the concern is around how it looks on small devices and also the amount of frames we'd have to use to make it fluid.(making the file size massive) Starting to round out the game now, should have a working demo to show off in a few weeks.
