a demo is pretty much just a rough mock up of the game play. For example, sometimes when i am making a new game, i start with the basics that come with build box, then just work on game play. Once i have 2 or 3 scenes made and am happy with where its progressing then i work on the graphics and visual aspect of the game and tie them all together, then finish add the rest of the scenes, then make the UI's and so on.
