Hello. So a random thing happened to me on the 6th of Dec. An old game of mine that doesn't get any downloads at all really, suddenly received over 3,000 downloads over night. Now I know it's not much, but for a game that rarely gets into double digits a day, it's quite the leap. I noticed that the majority originated from China according to iTunes Connect. The next day, download numbers are back to what it was receiving, Is there a way to tell if you got a home page feature or something? Or do you think this is some kind of error on iTunes Connect? Thanks.
What's also weird is that no additional Game Center scores have been submitted and no ad impressions have been counted. It's like 3000 Chinese iPhones have had the app installed but noones playing. Another strange thing is that there has been more "App Units" downloaded than "App Store Impressions" according to my analytics... very weird.
Itunes is a very strange place for me . in one day i've got 55.000 impression with 97 games installed (2nd day i release my game), after that day i've got another 7000 impression with total 600 games installed . And another thing is why my game is featured in RUSSIA ?
I doubt it happened overnight. What I mean is that Apple (and most other analytics services out there) do not provide immediate results. Your data will be aggregated overnight and you will see the results for the previous day. That means you have that 3000 downloads throughout the day and then you will not see that until next day. In my opinion it is okay as you should not just sit there 24hrs and watch how your download numbers grow. You should analyze the data whatever you have and work on the game or on the marketing instead. But if you really really want to see immediate data you can use Flurry (from Yahoo) or Firebase (from Google). I believe both of them are providing immediate data query. Btw just to answer to your question, you can use services like appannie.com to see when and where your app (or other's apps) been featured...
It turns out that it was in fact, one transaction through Apples "Volume Purchase Program". This means that an educational or other large institution downloaded 3.2k downloads in-one to put on all their devices. Most likely a Chinese University has put it on all their Computing Science students devices so they can learn how not to make a game It's no Apple feature, but it's pretty cool I guess.
Now i know why it is, i search crossy and my video show up in front . Someone take it from youtube and add it to vk,i must say thank you to him PS : Smart guy
