Is it possible to make my character automatically, gradually lose health, without having it attacked by an enemy?
I'm thinking about making a "survival" based game and this is core game mechanic that's needed for this type of game

I would think that there would be a workaround for this. Have an enemy spawner that is transparent that is linked to the character that is always spawning bullets at the character. But since they are transparent it would accomplish what you need (I think). I'll have to give this a try myself (it's been on my list of stuff to try :)

    A rough thought.
Not sure what sort of game your making
You can add health to character, lets 5, then add health to an object, set it as enemy, set the objects health to 1,00000,00000 , then place the object wherever you want, set opacity of object to zero, so then every fifth time you hit the object your character dies.
theres also a discussion here https://www.buildbox.com/forum/index.php?threads/health-bar-tutorial-coming-soon.4316/
on adding a health bar, that may help some how.
