Hey Guys, Not sure where to put this question, but here it goes anyways: I have started with a concept game with a 2D side scroller one. Everything was fine, then decided to have a go and try to make the graphics design a bit more interesting and turn that to a 2.5D design (almost like voxel style, however, it does not move on the Z coordinate at all). When I do that, I feel my eyes hurt, which is super weird, as again, the only difference are the bricks, original design was just look like the side of the brick, and I have just replaced the object's default animation to the new graphics... Just to have a little idea about the design: Any idea what is that? Is this something to do with the colors I use or something else? Thanks, Tamas
Thanks @VectologyGames! You must be right, it seems contrast was just about too small for my eyes, plus removed the gradients which helped as well. Probably I can put back gradients but not as much, will play a bit with that. Today I have learnt something new about design
I'm actually developing a series for Indie Game Devs focusing on design principles. This is the next step in the game dev evolution.
RE the contrast issue - I think it is the use of gradients that is strenuous rather than aesthetically pleasing
