I am building a game with scenes connected not random, the problem that i need to test only on that selection scenes. My solution is just go ahead and mute all the other scenes and left that scenes to test. But this way keep harder when you have more scenes. This only work if you stack scenes. I found that we can solo a scene then un-mute the other scenes. I wondering why we don't make that as the test for mutil selection scenes? Is there any one have a faster way to do that?
I hear what you're saying @buman, as I wanted to do exactly the same. I know this isn't ideal, but it is a short-term solution. 1: Drag the group of scenes you want to test, to the beginning of the scene area (after the 'Start" scene). Change from - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, to this 1, 5, 6, 7..... 2: Click Edit - Align Scenes, this will put your scenes you want to test right at the beginning. 3: When you're finished testing a handful of scenes, put them back in place and align scenes again to put everything back to normal.
Thank you Phill. It's a great workaround. That's fine when we just have around 20 of them. But when you have around 50 to 100 scenes it's a pain Since not easy to drag them around like this in BB.
@buman here's another option for you but is still painful. Go to each scene you don't want to test and set the start digit to some high number. This was you can simply type in 0 when you want to test new scenes for each individual start digit of a scene. This way at least you don't have to drag scenes around.
@buman When I have a sequential game I'm working on I will place a "next checkpoint" at the start of the game and a "set checkpoint" at the scene I am working on. This will warp the character to whatever level you are working on
You can use temporary checkpoints. Take an image place it as an action on the start scene. Set the action as a "Next Checkpoint'' Then place an actual check point to a particular scene you want to test. Delete any prior checkpoints you may have and make a note from where you have deleted for obvious reasons. fastest way to test, as deleting and re-inserting checkpoints is much faster as im sure checkpoints are way fewer in your game than anything else, and its much faster than muting soloing or building longer scenes. Let me know if this helps you. P.S : I tried muting the scenes with the checkpoints so i thought it would directly teleport me to the next one, but it didnt work so i just made a note and deleted it, Will be implementing my final check points after the game. So now i just copy a checkpoint paste it to the scene I want to test and paste it there, this way i get done in about a min, rather than those old methods.
I'd completely forgotten about 'muting' scenes in the scene drop down and I found it much quicker to mute all but 4 or 5 scenes and work on those for an hour or so until super-polished. Thanks for reminding me @adtn64 FYI, I have checkpoints at the beginning and end of each scene and when I muted them, it skipped from say scene 1 to scene 10, 11, 12 - perfect for testing. Also, once you've clicked on a scene at the bottom of BB, you can use the arrow keys and 'M' for Mute to quickly mute and un-muted scenes. This was far the quickest way for me on approx 50 scenes.
When I mute all the scenes I dont want to test, it never plays correctly, It always hangs after the start screen, that is why i resorted to checkpoint method, Not sure why or what Im doing wrong, Ill have a go at it once again, thanks
Another method that I've just discovered: Turns out you press the S key as normal to Solo a scene AND then press the M key in others to "de-select" them from red and this includes them as Solo.
Hi, This doesnt work for me for some reason, thats why i used the checkpoint skip option, I too tried this first
It only works for games that have stacked / random scenes. If your scenes are aligned you need to do something like the checkpoint method.
