Hey Guys, Just finishing up my first BB game for iOS, it's called "Almost Impossible!". I plan to submit it to Apple for review in the next few days. Here's the trailer for it (be sure to have the sound on!). I've not official announced the game, so please don't share it publicly just yet Thoughts and feedback welcome. Thanks, Dan
It looks good and like it is a really neat game. I would definitely consider this to be a theatrical trailer, because of the funny guy voiceover. The theatrical trailer will likely be more useful for marketing it on the web rather than in the app stores. I have heard that the trailers that do the best on the app stores are those that don't do voiceovers. If you remove the voiceover, that trailer might be app store-ready.
To be honest, I don't like the voice that much. The game looks fantastic, the colors are superb with the light you have going on there and the level design looks original. Once published I will download it right away for sure. It's just the voice in the trailer that turns me away from it. Do you have another option? If not, I hope others don't feel the same.
@Jamie - Thanks. This video is for the teaser site, I have another video for the App Store. @Christoph - Completely understand it's not to everyones tastes. I fancied trying something a little different to make it more memorable Thanks for all the feedback, I appreciate it!
i actually like the voice over in this usage... almost like the announcer is egging you on to see how far you can get definitely comes across as a polished app and not voice over recorded in the garage
I definitely agree. As a theatrical trailer it works great! Do you plan to publish it yourself or are you trying to go with a publisher? (if I might ask)
The voiceover was not bad. It did, however, distract me from the game itself, especially the retro music. I would love to see/hear a trailer that does not have the voiceover. I think that might be one reason people advise against voiceovers in the app store trailers: the game can be really good, so good that a voiceover is not necessary to sell it, and the voiceover might mask the game audio.
@Jamie - Yup, agreed. I'll pop the AppStore/gameplay trailer on YouTube also soon. @Christoph for this one I think I'm going to just publish it direct and see how it goes.
Looks great! Just goes to show there are always new variations out there of the popular game types we can make in BB.
Nice looking trailer @dan_counsell, I've just emailed you some test feedback on the version I've been playing today.
