I was getting the above error while trying to implement Leaderboard in my game using Google Play Services. It turned out that the only step I was missing while testing the build on my phone is that the apk must be a SIGNED build. The steps to follow: Game Services ID: This is mentioned on Google Play Game Details as a 12 digit App ID under the game name or resources string xml file. Leaderboard ID: Get this from the Leaderboard tab Add a testing email ID in the Testing tab. Keep in mind, the missing link was SIGNED APK.
