How do I move on to the next level (or a certain level) when the character collides into an object? Is there a way to do this in Buildbox?
You only have to add in the area that you want "Menu Jump", located in "Logic" https://www.buildbox.com/manual/ (Page 43)
I'm not trying to take the character to a different world; I want them to go to another level within the same world. Menu Jump doesn't do that.
Then you can use: Portal https://www.buildbox.com/manual/ (page 39) Action Button / Action Type https://www.buildbox.com/manual/ (Page 56) Please see the tutorials. https://www.buildbox.com/tutorials/ https://www.buildbox.com/guides/
Portals don't take you to another level. I've also read the tutorials but I'm having a really hard time figuring out how to do the action that takes you to another level. Do you think you could explain the steps for me?
Create different levels in different Worlds, then use Menu Jump. Or run your levels in the same World, in order like in Jumpy (KetchApp).
I need to have the character move to another level within the same world. I'm also using the "Around the World" preset. Is there no way to collide into an object and move it to another level?
Not in the same World, at least that I know. Use a Menu Jump at the end of your "around the world", and have it take you to a new "around the world".
Tried it. That doesn't work because I need the character to be in the exact position/location that it was in when it touched the Menu Jump. When it goes to the second copy of the same world, I have no way to move it down to where it was originally without completely messing up the orbit. Specifically, the character starts at the top of the planet it orbits around. Then when it reaches the bottom, it touches the Menu Jump which takes it to the start of the second world which is an exact copy of the first world. Unfortunately, it is suddenly on top of that world again, instead of at the bottom where it first touched the Menu Jump. I can't manually drag it or move it to the bottom of the planet in the second world because then it'll no longer orbit the planet. I need start orbiting from the bottom of the planet when it reaches the second world.
Rotate the character on the second world to the bottom (by 180 degrees). Also, check out Rising Highs 99 Moons. They did some amazing work with menu jumps and "around the world" style gameplay.
You need to use checkpoints. Put a action over your object and set to next checkpoint. Then in the next scene/ level add a action set to set checkpoint where you want the characters to start. That's what I did in the arcade mode of this game Spin Round by adam rogan https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/spin-round/id1245612368?mt=8
Do you have a .bbdoc of you doing this? I've tried this numerous times but still can't get it to work. I'm also using the 'Around the World' preset.
