Hi Guys! @Aaron F and I (tastypill) are proud to announce our newest game Mars Mountain hitting the app store on 4/14. Mars Mountain is a retro endless arcade game, which takes place on Mars. You've crashed landed your ship and now must jump down the mountain dodging fireballs, evading UFOs, escaping man-eating plants and much more in an effort to locate repair canisters for your ship. Our goal for this game was to re-imagine the qbert gameplay style and put our own unique spin on it, while staying within the confines of Buildbox. It was a huge challenge and some elements are extraordinarily complex but we're very happy with the end result. We would love to hear opinions so tell us what you think!
That looks really good, guys. I'm making a game that's similar, but this one blows mine way out of the water . Can't wait to play!
Congrats on this amazing game - Couple of questions - 1. how did u take the video/animations of the game capture ? 2. how do u navigate the game ? 3. Was it built in BB1 or BB2 ?
Thanks for the support guys! We made this game pretty much in full in Buildbox 1, but we decided to wait for a more stable Buildbox 2 version so that we could add some additional bells and whistles (specifically for menu/game over animations, cutscene, multiple fonts, particle generator). Beta4 was the version that didn't have the major game preventing issues for us so we finished it up on this version. We still had to work around a ton of bugs, but we were able to produce a version that we were happy with. @eyal The screen captures are GIFs I took with a free program called licecap. It's very easy to use and you can take them right from the previewer, not sure what you mean by how do we navigate the game?
What collision did you use for the blocks? I've been struggling to get it to work so my character can move in an isometric fashion. I really am digging that art work.
Thank you for that. 1. is it a one touch ? 2. in what program did u capture the screen for the trailer ? 3. at what frame rate did u use i licecap ?
1. The game controls are one tap left/right so 2 buttons 2. We used Quicktime to capture the gameplay and iMovie for basic editing 3. Try using 60fps for Iicecap
