What I want to do is have a spinning blade attached to the end of an arm that travels up and down the side of the screen. Unfortunately, when items are linked, the Parent movement cancels out the childs.

Is there any hack or way to achieve this?

    Thank you for any hints!

Whatever logic your using to move the arm duplicate it for the blade?

@heathclose Then both objects would be moving up and down, but the blade would not have any rotation applied to it. I want the blade to spin, while the arm is moving up and down the play field along the side of the screen.

Can't you make a separate blade and use the connections to attach it? Make the blade a wheel so it can spin(if its not an enemy) or make it an enemy and change its Y velocity to -90 or something along those lines to make it spin? Don't make it a physics object, or it will just fall.

@heathclose I have not gotten this to work yet. I have tried every possible combination I can think of and still no luck. The closest I have gotten is setting the blade to a wheel with speed and torque set, but then it only spins for a moment, then stops, then spins again, then stops.

It is also possible in BB1:
    1. Create an arm that travels up and down
    2. At the end of the arm place a decoration object - this will be your pivot point
    3. With the Link tool connect the arm to the pivot point starting from the arm
    4. Add the blade as an enemy and set it to a physics object, no collide
    5. With the link tool connect the pivot point and the blade, starting from the pivot point
    6. Click on the new link and set Speed to 5 or -5 depends which direction you would like your blade to be rotated
    7. Make sure your blade has exactly the same position as the pivot point - You can achieve this easy with entering the position information using your keyboard instead to dragging the object with the mouse
