    Hey Guys,

As promised here's my article detailing how I launched Almost Impossible! for iOS. It includes details and graphs on how high it went in the charts and how much revenue it made: http://dancounsell.com/articles/ios-game-revenue-and-launch-details

I honestly hope you find it useful and if you have any questions please let me know.

    Happy BuildBoxing!

    Cheers,
    Dan

Of course unless you're planning to retire your profit is actually higher - you will spread out your investment in Buildbox and the Apple developer program over several games.

How is it doing on tvOS? I released a non-game tvOS app at $2.99 and its been getting 5-10 downloads a day. Nothing to write home about yet but hoping tvOS gets bigger in the coming months.

Wow. Thanks for this article. I'm still in the process to decide if I want or not to make a living out of this. Your insides are very valuable.

Thanks so much for sharing that Dan. Great insight into the marketing part of it. and very tangible target of what that kind of effort can result in.

It's very much hit and miss, sometimes you can release a game and hit the jackpot, but that happens so rarely you can't bank on it. I think the Almost Impossible! Launch shows what's achievable with a little hard work.

But whatever you do, just go ahead and launch something, and then do it all over again ;)

    Thanks,
    Dan

I'm honestly surprised you did that game in just one month. Incredible. And the freemium option would have been interesting, but seeing how the other recently released games are doing I think you did better with a fixed price than with ads. It seems that ads are only going to pay you off if you have a big publisher. I for sure should finish my game already. Too much time involved for what most certainly will happen :(

Dan, in your article you say you are not going after the copiers, but I think you should or they will

    • continue to copy your ideas
    • tarnish your brand
    • if they see bad reviews on Android google search results and won't want to download it on Apple

Apple has a "Contact Us" form for reporting such matters, I've used them in the past https://itunesconnect.apple.com/WebObjects/iTunesConnect.woa/da/LCProviderDispatcherPage/contactUs

    Google Play form https://support.google.com/legal/answer/3110420?rd=1

I had someone steal my Icon for my best app. I found him and made him take it down. (He just grabbed it from Google Images). Amateur!
I had someone steal my app from iOS and convert it to Android. He did the same with friends of mine. I rallied the "troops" and we all complained to GooglePlay an they took down his account.
    Don't reward dishonesty with complacency.

Thanks for posting this @dan_counsell ! How did the Apple TV version fare compared to the other versions?

Speaking of Apple TV, there are a couple of us in the beta thread trying to figure out how to auto-focus on the button by default like you have done in Almost Impossible. Do you have any good tips you could give us over there?

I also agree with the others, you should at least report the ones who blatantly stole your game and icon!

Thanks for sharing! Very valuable info. So sad to read about the people with absolutely no moral! I would've notified Google though just as principle, but it's in a way good you don't focus on that :)
    Keep up the good work.
