Hi Fellow Boxers, I'm having so much fun with Buildbox! I have just released my second Buildbox game, Gate Break. I wrote all original music for it as well! Another one man job mostly, I did have help from my company on some things. But all in all, 100% created and finished in Buildbox, by me, someone that does not know how to program! Start to finish with breaks here and there, I worked on Gate Break for about 2.5 months. Making games is not my full time job, but if it was I'm sure this game could've been finished quicker. I'd love to hear what you all think and please let me know if you have any questions! Leaving a review would be appreciated Here is the app preview but I hope you play it! After all, it's free. iPhone: https://appsto.re/us/YnvMdb.i Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.incipia.gatebreakandroid Gate Break Song: iTunes - https://geo.itunes.apple.com/us/album/gate-break-single/id1139443218?mt=1&app=music Spotify - https://play.spotify.com/album/0GQV...e&utm_source=open.spotify.com&utm_medium=open Thanks for checking it out! -Nico
Thank you @Gregory Storm, @qiang_ma, @jignesh11192, @theseanjonathanconnor, @AndyG, and @Christoph!!! I appreciate the support and you taking the time out of your day to check out my work
Hey Boxers! Anymore feedback on Gate Break? I'd love to hear from other game makers on what you think would help improve the game
Thanks @doylepat! I'm gonna check out your game next. Cool @heathclose! I'd love to hear what you think. Unfortunately yes, for tilt to work properly you need to hold your device flat. I tried a couple different things but couldn't figure out a way to do it any differently. An accelerometer calibration would be awesome.
Awesome game! How did you get the tilt to work? I've been trying to figure out how to make a ball tilt for days!
Thanks for checking it out @smallsquared! I dragged the Accelerometer Character Control onto my Tilt Worlds game UI and have the following settings: Control Style - Relative Control Type - Move Active Axes - Both My player settings are as follows: Max Speed X,Y - 40, 40 Direct Movement - Checked Forced Movement - Checked Fixed Rotation - Checked I hope this helps! If you have any more questions let me know! Don't forget to leave a review for Gate Break
@nico And yeah one more thing, personally not a big fan of tilt gameplay , but this one looks really crazy, especially the one breaks the passage so kinda loving gameplay, but yeah I would definitely like to ask that the trailer moving behind is just to indicate the player that the character can go round 360 degree or it's just a simple decoration tail to look attractive?
Thanks @bmsingha, good to hear! I know tilt controls aren't for everyone but it was quite simple to include in my game and I figured, why not? The player trail is mostly for game "juice". But I found that with the trail it was easier for the user to keep track of the player. I tried many different trails and settled on that one, sort of an inky pen trail, to fit with the splattering debris pieces. I really wanted to give the user the feeling that they were leaving their mark while playing Gate Break. You can also draw as you play! Thanks again for the feedback! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Very good! Chaotic like a bullet hell game, but fun! I didn't try tilt controls... touch was chaos enough for me. The touch controls are awesome though. Runs a bit choppy on my ipad2. Also the music is excellent.
@nico you already gave users that sort of feeling so great work and thanks for clarification Keep it up
@Nanotaku thanks for playing! It's definitely a chaotic game. Lots of things flying around everywhere I'm glad you enjoyed it! Sorry to hear about iPad2. I definitely had some lag issues with this game. It was my biggest challenge actually. Thanks again @bmsingha! I really appreciate all the feedback. It's hard to become a better game designer without honest feedback so thanks for helping me improve!
