Carter Thomas pointed this out today. Its def a BB game and the owner is listed on our forum, just not active, maybe just a quiet "lurker". Congrats @josiah_jenkins ! It goes to show that with some quick work and jumping on a trending meme you can do wonders for a quick "flash in the pan". That should be inspiration to all of us here.
Hey! This is actually the game I have a few posts on here about that I had trouble with Apple rejecting it saying it was saving data to iCloud. It was my first submission of a BB project and that had me a little worried but after a few tries it was accepted. @Andy and @theseanjonathanconnor we're quick to jump in and help troubleshoot. I will send Josiah your congratulations!
This, @eyal Some kid keeps saying "Damn Daniel" lol... The success for this is pretty great, taking a trending concept and putting a game out
he uses keyword famous damn daniel and use the clone game ball jump and it looks at all when I play until I found some of the exact same level with the ball jump ... it 's an excellent marketing strategy
From what I've seen from Appnoxious they're known to give people a hoverboard if they reach a certain score and then send them a pic. I assume, if they even do give a hoverboard, that it's like a $50 one that blows up on alibaba, at least that's what I would do lol. The thing is though someone can just steal someone elses pic and say that they got the score, so I would hope Appnoxious really doesn't give them out or else, even though the game makes like 5k+ daily, they'd be broke.
. I'm actually just a developer that works for/with a few different marketers. I know they offer chances to win prizes if you beat certain scores but I don't have anything to do with the apps getting popular. So that should answer your question @trygii
I saw on youtube that the two lads who made these videos appeared on Ellen. So I am guessing that there's some media coverage going on plus the fact the video has been viewed 45m times! I bet some Indie developers are kicking themselves how something like this can be a 'hit' on the App Store lol.
still even though there are so many hits to the video how the app became so popular ? no website, no facebook no social media for the game and yet boom - how ????
Well it is called Damn Daniel. That's why. My game Hit The Dab got more downloads than any of my games just because of the name. If it was actually good it'd have more though lol. And Josiah Jenkins is pretty well known on the App Store so his name plus the games name = success.
The first thing the game did on start was ask if it could send Notifications! How is that possible in BB?
@AndyG it's certainly possible to enable notifications, both local and push by having a programmer add them after export.
@AndyG check out https://www.onesignal.com it's a great alternative to parse for push and only two lines of code to integrate it to the project. Has some cool features too and tracks installs and push opens in realtime
