We love showcasing new games built with Buildbox from the creators in our no-code community. The games we select for our special ‘spotlight’ picks are indie mobile games with a creative theme, gameplay concept, mechanics, or performed well on one of the app store’s charts.
This week’s game spotlight pick is Squid Arena by Dead Fly Studios. Built with Buildbox, this game is based on the hit Netflix TV series, Squid Game. But, you don’t have to be a fan of the viral sensation to enjoy playing! As player Oh Il-Nam once said in the series, “doing something is always more fun than just watching.”
So, let’s dive right in!
Squid Arena: Let the Games Begin!

In Squid Arena, you can play four different games: Red Light, Tug of War, Glass Bridge, and Honeycomb. The first challenge Red Light is a deadly version of Red Light, Green Light, the children’s game where anyone caught moving when the light is red is eliminated. When you’re eliminated in Squid Arena, you’ll unfortunately be shot dead on the spot.
Tug of War is the second game, but instead of a puddle of mud, the losing team will ultimately fall to their death. Players have to be quick and tap fast to pull their team’s rope to the other side. It’s a fun and exciting challenge.
Glass Bridge is one of the hardest games in Squid Arena. Players must guess which portion of glass on the bridge is safe to jump across. One false move, and it’s game over!
New Honeycomb Game
Honeycomb is the final and newest edition to the game. You can select between a circle, a star, an umbrella, or a heart as your desired honeycomb shape. Players must successfully cut across the outline without messing up, or you’ll be eliminated. Players can play all four different cut-outs to accumulate a high score and coins.
As you progress, you can use your coins to unlock new items in the shop. Fully customize your character with various hats and cool sunglasses to make him stand out from the crowd. Squid Arena is a lot of fun to play!
