Our community of developers create some of the most innovative games using Buildbox, and each week we like to feature one of their creations to inspire other game creators. Our “spotlight” picks are independent mobile games that have a unique theme, gameplay idea, mechanics or have done well on an app store chart. This week’s game spotlight pick is Hide from Heather by Joyride Apps.
Built with Buildbox, this work simulation game is loosely inspired by real-life experience and the TV show “What We Do in the Shadows.” It also features several hundred 3D models and tons of sound effects.

Hide from Heather
In Hide from Heather, players get to become Bob, a software engineer who works for a technology company. Bob has a fairly normal, happy existence, except for work. There’s one coworker that’s making it extremely hard to get things done. Her name is Heather and she’s a bona-fide ‘energy vampire.’ She’s capable of boring or annoying anyone she comes across to sheer exhaustion.
Interactions with Heather are exhausting Bob to the point of passing out. So, it’s up to you to take over and control his every waking move. Help him navigate the day whether he’s at home, the gym, the office, or even the nightclub.
There’s a handy to-do list of daily tasks that must be done in order to clear each level. Although the individual tasks are not challenging to perform, you must try to do them while avoiding Heather at all costs. One brisk encounter and it is game over.
The 3D graphics in this work-life simulation game are amazing. It’s very true-to-life. You’re really transported into the world of Bob in every aspect. Overall, it’s an impressive sims-like game that’s a lot of fun to play.
